WDZ!!! Mainframes is no more black&white

When I got trained in mainframes and started working in mainframes. I listened a lot of comments towards mainframes like “oh sshhhh… that black&white screen, sprinkle with some green and red scar”, “that old technology”, “you have to think like 1960 to write the Cobol code “, “most of the jobs are production support, once you learned, no need to learn much more thing”, “there is no more development going on in mainframes”. And at that time I didn’t know about mainframes also…When our training started I realized the black screen… For sometime I thought also my life is going to be black&white… And I put a black&white photo in orkut and change the tag line to “Life is no more colorful”… Because social computing should represent your present status… Gradually I came to know the actual definition of mainframes… About performance of ZAAP processor, ZIIP processor, IFL, ICF, how data warehousing through ZIIP processor is more efficient than any other data warehousing environment… But recently when I heard about WDZ (Web Sphere Developer for System Z), I am so happy to say that Mainframes is no more black&white…WDZ-tool having a very interactive access to Z/OS through remote system explorer. It’s having a language-sensitive COBOL editor. We can compare two files; monitor the job easily; debug the program like xpeditor, doing the CICS programming through this GUI environment…Overall I can say that it is a single integrated tool for developing mainframe applications using both traditional and newer technologies… For the ISPF programmers it may take some time to adapt it but it’s really cool… so what is the moral of this story… I should change my photo in orkut to a color one…
